Getting to The Botanical Ark Retreat is easy with regular flights to Cairns

Cairns International and domestic airport is only 95-km south of The Botanical Ark Retreat. It takes about 1.5-hours to drive here. And the drive along the Captain Cook Highway, hugging the Queensland coast, is beautiful.

You can order a direct transfer to The Botanical Ark Retreat when you make your real-time online booking.

Nine international airlines service Cairns; Air New Zealand, Cathay Pacific, Jetstar, Qantas, United Airlines, China Eastern, China Southern, Air Niugini, Airlines PNG, connecting the entire globe.

Six domestic airlines service Cairns. The largest carrier with the most domestic destinations is Qantas, Australia’s national airline.  But there is also Jetstar, Virgin Australia, Skytrans, Hinterland Aviation, and Tiger Airways.

A five-minute undercover walkway connects the domestic and international terminals. Both terminals have ATMs, currency exchange, showers, baggage storage, WiFi, a post office, etc.

Rental car companies located at the airport are Avis, Budget, Hertz, Europcar, Redspot Sixt, and Thrifty.

Two trains travel the 1681-km between Brisbane and Cairns. You can catch trains (and planes) to Brisbane from throughout Australia.

The Sunlander, which the Society of International Railway Travellers place in the world’s top 25 rail journeys, departs Brisbane every Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday. It offers overnight sleepers, buffet and club cars, and the lively onboard atmosphere quickly consumes the 31-hour journey.

The Tilt Train, with reclining seats (a-la-aircraft) covers the same distance in 25 hours, departing every Monday and Friday, but it has no sleeping compartments.
